Apple Cheddar Scone

These scones are simple to make and are great for breakfast or with soup for lunch! Our favourite is to use a combo of aged cheddar with ambrosia apples. Since these scones are so simple, the cheese and apples really shine! Opt for your favourite good-quality cheese.

You know when you make a grilled cheese and some cheese oozes out, making crispy, delicious cheese crunchies? Well, when these scones bake, the cheddar on the bottom turns to crispy deliciousness. It might be the only snack where we choose the bottom as our favourite.

Eat the scones warm, fresh out of the oven, with a generous smear of Grass Fed Heritage Sea Salted Butter.

Ingredients
  • 2 Cups All-Purpose Flour Plus additional 1/4 Cup for forming scones
  • 2 Tbsp Granulated White Sugar
  • 2.5 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Cup Donia Farms Sea Salted Butter Cold, plus additional 1 Tbsp melted buter
  • 1 Cup Donai Farms 3.25% Grass-Fed Milk
  • 1 Cup Aged Cheddar Cheese Grated
  • 1 Cup Apple Smalll diced to 1 cm cubes
Servings: Scones
Instructions
  1. Preheat Oven to 375
  2. In medium bowl whisk together flour, sugar and baking powder.
  3. Cut 1/2 cup of cold butter into dry ingredients until butter is pea-sized. Tip: When butter is frozen or very cold, use a cheese grater to grate the cheese before mixing with your hands with the flour!
  4. Using a spatula or wooden spoon, mix in milk to form dough. Fold in Apple and Cheddar. Place dough in fridge until oven is done preheating.
  5. Roll dough out into 1/4 cup of flour on a flat surface and form into a flat disc approximately 1.5 inches thick. Cut disc in half, in quarters, and then in eighths to form 8 triangle shapes.
  6. Brush melted butter on top of scones and place on baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes. Scones will have golden edges when done.
