Pesto Pasta Sauce

Category: Lunch & Dinner
Best for: Pasta Sauce
Serves: 4-6 People

January weather calls for creamy pesto pasta! This pasta sauce is just five ingredients! It pairs with any pasta, although we love cheese tortellini or a fettuccini with bacon and spinach added.

Ingredients
1 clove

Garlic

1/4 Cup

All-purpose flour

1/4 cup

Pesto

1/3 Cup

Grated Parmesan

1/4 tsp

Salt (or to taste)

1/4 tsp

Pepper (or to taste)

1 to 1 1/2 cups

Reserved pasta water

Instructions
  1. Make your pasta according to the package directions. saving 1.5 cups of pasta water for the sauce.

Add the butter to a large saucepan or skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and saute until fragrant.

  2. Whisk in the flour. Slowly add in the milk, constantly whisking until a thick sauce forms. Add in Pesto and grated parmesan and stir until combined. Add salt and pepper.  Reduce heat to low until pasta is done cooking.
  3. Add the pasta water to the sauce and whisk until it is smooth. Add as much or as little as you want, depending on how thick of a sauce you would like.
  4. Serve immediately. Top your pasta with a generous amount of parmesan and fresh basil. Enjoy!

  5. Top with a dollop of yogurt and cheese for serving. Enjoy!
