Do you remember strawberry milk as a kid? The syrup kind that came in a plastic bottle and it probably lived in the pantry? Well, this is so much better than that!
I have been making this drink for my son, Arie. He is obsessed with strawberries…so much so that he will take a bowl of berries over a cookie any day! This year we have a few strawberry plants in the yard. Arie checks them everyday to see if they are perfectly ripe to pick. All of this is to say that while the other kids all want a tall glass of our Chocolate Milk, Arie wants Strawberry Milk! (I have to say its pretty delicious!)
To make it extra special, try topping your milk with some whipped cream!
Ingredients
Chopped strawberries (fresh or frozen)
Sugar
Vanilla
Instructions
-
In a saucepan over medium heat, heat the berries and sugar. Continue to stir and mash the berries to release the juices. Once near boiling, and when you have a significant amount of juice, stir in the vanilla and cornstarch.
-
Bring to a boil and then remove from heat. Using a small strainer or sifter, separate the berries from the syrup. – Save the berries for a waffle topper or sweet yogurt topper! Add the syrup to a small container to store in the fridge until ready to use.
-
Add the desired amount of Strawberry Syrup to Donia Farms Heritage Milk. Stir and Enjoy!
